FAQ
Practical answers before you apply.
A local AI build is a high-touch local AI implementation. These answers clarify hardware, access, permissions, support, and what the system should and should not do.
Is this just buying a Mac mini M4?
No. The package includes the Mac mini M4, standard power cable, and Ethernet cable, but the service is the out-of-the-box local AI system: installed software, default ChatGPT via OAuth reasoning connection, account setup, workflow setup, documentation, training, and launch support.
What is installed on the Mac mini M4?
The system is built with local AI system installed and configured as the local AI developer environment. ChatGPT via OAuth is configured as the default authorization path for AI reasoning, and clients can later add or change supported API/model connections if their workflow needs them.
Why use ChatGPT via OAuth instead of only using an API?
For many business owners, ChatGPT via OAuth is the best default local AI connection because it is simple to authorize, predictable to manage, and can use the client's ChatGPT plan features within plan limits. It also avoids rebuilding every workflow around a new API model name or billing setup as subscription features improve. Direct API usage is still useful for certain workflows, but it usually requires more technical configuration, usage-based billing, and more hands-on maintenance as models change.
Can the system use Claude or another model?
Yes. ChatGPT via OAuth is the best default for most clients, not the only possible connection. That makes ChatGPT a natural starting point for most local AI system builds. If a business needs Claude API, OpenAI API, or another supported provider for a specific workflow, that connection can be added within the agreed scope.
What hardware is included?
The included hardware is the Mac mini M4, standard power cable, and Ethernet cable. Display, keyboard, mouse, and other peripherals can be added for an additional price. Apple shipping is currently around 2 weeks, but we can often procure new Mac minis through third-party distributors to save time and maintain a smoother delivery date. We do not control Apple inventory, distributor inventory, or carrier delays, so hardware shipping times can vary. Phone carrier/SIM service, paid software subscriptions, API usage, domain/hosting, and unusual procurement requirements are handled separately unless written into the final scope.
What are the security benefits of a local AI system?
The Mac mini gives the business an owned base for workflow memory, project context, examples, local files, approval rules, and connected accounts. Instead of spreading sensitive work across random chat threads and tools, the system is organized around a device and operating setup the business controls.
Why does local AI memory matter as models change?
Models and AI tools will keep changing. A local AI system gives the business a stable place for workflow memory, examples, preferences, files, approval rules, and project context. When a better model or tool is added within scope, it can work from the same approved operating base instead of making the business rebuild its context from scratch.
Does local AI mean nothing ever touches the cloud?
No. This system can connect to cloud services such as ChatGPT, Gmail, Apple, and Google Workspace when those tools are approved. The value is local ownership and permission management: files, memory, workflows, and authority are organized around the client's Mac mini and rules instead of being left loose across unrelated accounts.
Can the system use accounts the business already has?
Yes, if the client approves that path and access is handled securely. The preferred setup is dedicated Apple, Gmail, and Google Workspace access so the local AI system has a clean operating environment.
Can the system send text messages?
Messaging is limited to whatever Apple provides through the configured Apple account, iMessage, and Messages capability. SMS to ordinary phone numbers is not promised unless Apple-supported relay/service conditions are met.
Will the system send emails, messages, posts, or purchases on its own?
Not by default. External actions should happen only inside approved workflows, with clear permission rules and human approval where the business wants it.
Will the system delete files?
No. The default configuration is no permanent deletion. If cleanup is approved, the system should move files only to a local review/trash folder so the client can manually inspect and delete them.
What kinds of work can it help with?
Common use cases include drafting, summarizing, file organization, email preparation, Google Workspace work, content production, research, intake preparation, document review, follow-up preparation, image/video concepts, and repeatable operational checklists.
How long does a build take?
A Local AI Developer build takes approximately 2 weeks from receiving the hardware to build and ship the local AI system. Hardware timing is separate: Apple shipping is currently around 2 weeks, but third-party distributor procurement can often save time. Complex Custom Builds can occasionally take longer when the scope includes deeper integrations, unusual workflows, custom dashboards, website/app work, or extra testing.
What happens after launch?
Launch support is included within the package terms. Additional support can continue at the current support rate of $100 per hour, subject to change, when the client wants more workflows, fixes, or training.
Ready for the next step?
Order now, schedule a call, or ask a question.
The call is where the business use case, likely benefit, package, timeline, and approval rules become clear.
